Characteristic feature:
- It has a very long slender tail and a bright red bill.
- Closely resembles the larger Alexandrine Parakeet, which has a wine-red patch on each shoulder.

- Flight feathers duskier green above, grey below
- Tail bluish green on central feathers, ochrish below.
- The Male has a narrow black-and-pink neck ring which is an important characteristic feature of this bird species.

Diet and Foraging:
In Asia, especially India it is considered one of the most destructive bird pests in agriculture. It is coming in enormous flocks to cereals and fruit crops, especially Citrus and Prunus.
